Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to identify the trends and scenarios for the organization of research based on analysis of the world foresights, as well as to highlight the main further challenges of research in Ukraine. The article substantiates the need to use foresight methodology to identify trends and scenarios for the development of research space. The results of research on foresight studies of future conducted by Elsevier, the International Scientific Council and other organizations were analysed in the Article. As a result, the research drivers and trends, which have developed in the international research space to date, were identified. The basic tendencies in organization of the world scientific activity were defined: research and formation of new knowledge are becoming globalized; socio-economic inequality between the countries with limited and strong scientific potential is increasing; co-ordination efforts to ensure the openness of science worldwide is required; the ways of research and transfer of new knowledge are altering; the new requirements for substantiating scientific knowledge are being introduced, the boundaries between the basic and applied scientific research are being blurred; the impact of integration processes on scientific institutions and the business sector of the economy is increasing; there is a growing need to introduce new governance models of scientific development that go beyond the traditional state ones.
Due to the research conducted, it is possible to identify the main challenges facing Ukrainian science. It is noteworthy, that discrepancy between the state of science development in Ukraine and the general international tendencies, necessitates revision of the existing model of scientific activity management in the country and development of the concept of science development.
