Abstract:
This paper presents research regarding the exploitation of the fishing potential in the Southern region of the Republic of Moldova. The aim of this document is to assess the productivity of five ponds from the Southern region of the country, namely the determination of phytoplankton, zooplankton biomass and the evolution of growth and development of fish species. An important task for increasing the productivity of fish farms, is to populate the pond with broods of fish species of high economic value, to provide the pond with generations of breeders of these species, as well as to maintain the highly productive characteristics of the pond, (detritus, phytoplankton, zooplankton), essential food for indigenous fish species. Fish production in natural reservoirs is an essential part of the biological productivity related to the formation and maintenance of the aquatic biomass. Therefore, the issues affecting the effectiveness of aquaculture development in the Republic of Moldova can be conditionally grouped into external and internal factors. External factors include low investments, insufficient level of technical material and scientific support. The internal factors depend directly on: the level of the anthropogenic damage to the pond, the optimal use of the material to populate, water resources and the natural reserves of the pond.
