Resources and Occasions in the Internationalisation of the Polish Food Industry

Abstract:

The ability to search for and adequately use resources to implement the strategic goals adopted in the company is a crucial element of efficient company management today. Besides, it is also vital to acquire the ability to capture and seize market opportunities. When companies operate in international markets, the proper expertise to take occasions in these markets becomes crucial and essential if a company wants to maintain its position, gain a competitive advantage and acquire new customers, and thus improve its financial results and increase the value of the company in general. In the case of food sector companies, the ability to use resources and opportunities in foreign markets becomes indispensable, because in this particular sector competition is particularly strong, and additionally, the business conditions are tightened by several requirements, laws and regulations that companies have to face. Therefore, maintaining a position in the markets becomes very difficult and demanding for food companies. The ability to capture opportunities and the appropriate use of resources, as well as the skills to search for them are not only essential but extremely beneficial for business management. This article presents the results of quantitative research conducted among 250 Polish food sector companies that concerned their activities in foreign markets in terms of employing the resources and exploiting the opportunities.
