A Review of Enterprise Application Integration Concepts: An Investigation on Current Market Trends

Abstract:

The task of integration has been addressed by different approaches. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is found to be a preferred approach as it provides scalability and eases development process by integrating applications as reusable system services. On the basis of research an empirical study has been conducted on the know-how of enterprise integration technologies and practices followed in the local industry and academia. It was identified that a comprehensive study explaining all the facets of Enterprise Integration was missing in the prior studies. This gap coincided with a low reporting of SOA and enterprise architecture frameworks studies in context of Pakistan. Therefore, an empirical investigation using a primary research method was performed. The instrument used to collect data was a combination of Technology Acceptance Model and User Acceptance Model. A total of 45 responses were accepted with no missing data. The survey takes into account following variables: Attitude (A), Security (S), Access Cost (AC), Perceived ease of use for SOA (PEOUS), Perceived usefulness (PU), Perceived information quality (PIQ), Perceived system quality (PSQ), Perceived service quality (PSvQ) and User acceptance (UA). Results suggest that Perceived usefulness PU and Perceived information quality PIQ have a positive impact on User Acceptance (UA). Attitude was found to be insignificant.Â
