Abstract:
The purpose of this research paper, is to find out what are the motivational factors that lead towards the success of Entrepreneurs in Pakistan. The study highlights the two types of motivators (Intrinsic and extrinsic) based on different motivational theoretical models of Human Resource Management. This research is qualitative in nature and uses case study based Approach. For this research activity, semi-structured interviews have been conducted during the time frame (September-December, 2017) in Karachi city only. These have been taken from total of ten emerging entrepreneurs of top sectors of Pakistan (including IT, Medical, Finance & Education), who are also studying at various academic Institutions in Karachi. This research takes into consideration the argument related to intrinsic and extrinsic motivating factors, that are presented and explained through self-determination theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 1985).The paper attempts to make a significant contribution towards understanding the perceptions of emerging entrepreneurs in Pakistani society, about motivational factors and what drives them to perform better, if they choose the route to entrepreneurship. Outcomes of this study can serve as guidelines to the top management of the Academic Institutes in Pakistan, to lay emphasis on entrepreneurial education & include its Skill Training & Development in their curriculum. The researchers here aim to find out which category of motivators, (intrinsic or extrinsic), is more effective in determining the entrepreneurial success of young emerging entrepreneurs of Pakistan.
