Abstract:
The present paper advances an analysis of the research development innovation sector in Romania, from the point of view of funds dedicated to research, employed personnel, attracting funds for research and distributing costs along various categories between 2010 and 2015. The information necessary for research was extracted from the database of the National Institute for Statistics, Eurostat or from the official releases of the Ministry of Research and Innovation. The results of the study show a sub-financing of the Romanian RDI sector, a reduced number of employees and a preponderance of current costs at the expense of investments. There are no signs of discrimination at the level of personnel employed in Romanian research. This study may be seen as a caveat addressed to the Romanian authorities and presents the need for measures to sustain the research sector, which might represent an economic growth factor at national level.
