Abstract:
In Romania it is recognized the importance of the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector for economic development and job creation. But despite the adopted measures and some positive evolutions in the last years, not all Romanian SMEs are prepared for acting their role of economy engine, being registered difficulties related to the limited financial resources and the cyclical, structural changes of global economy. Besides, the financial crisis represents another new threat for the Romanian economy and one of the most affected sectors is the SMEs. In these circumstances, the Government adopted some measures in order to stimulate the SMEs sector but their effects are not the expected ones so far. In this paper are analyzed the main challenges faced by the Romanian SMEs in the context of the international crisis and the anti-crisis measures adopted at the national level in order to diminish the negative effects of the crisis.
