Abstract:

The specificity of the exploitation of delivery vehicles in transportation companies is associated with high environmental pressure resulting from the necessity of often express delivery of loads to the customer on time. This may have a negative impact on the safety of the driver, the loads transported and other road users. The research confirms that on Polish roads there are delivery vehicles that exceed their permitted total weight, which according to the vehicle's construction is 3.5 tons. By law, a vehicle’s owner does not have to install tachographs in his vehicles, which also affects exceeding by the driver his permitted work time. The aim of the article is to analyze the issues of safe exploitation of delivery vehicles in transportation companies To achieve the objective, a characterisation of the threats and potential risks of dangerous situations endangering the lives of the driver, other road users, the vehicle and the load carried, was necessary. The technical characteristic of the selected delivery vehicle was carried out and the functioning of the systems and installations increasing its safe exploitation was verified. The analysis of the discussed issues allowed to formulate methods and principles of safe exploitation of delivery vehicles in transportation companies.
