Abstract:
Maritime transport, being the dominant branch of transport and one with the greatest capacity, is exposed to a number of threats that may significantly affect the level of security of vessels, crews, cargoes, as well as different elements of infrastructure and superstructure. For each type of transport, including maritime, specific sources of risk and safety threats can be identified. The safety of maritime transport is one of the pivotal issues concerning its operation and development, both from the standpoint of how such entities are currently managed as well as from a strategic perspective, with environmental protection playing an equally important role in all that.
The aim of the article is to identify the security drivers in maritime transport, particularly in the context of environmental protection
