Satisfaction in Business Relationships between Companies and Dark Side Behaviour: A Literature Review

Abstract:

Buyer-seller relationships are a key element of relationship marketing; managing them properly enables companies to obtain benefits. Satisfaction is the condition that makes business relationships last over time, and may be affected by different types of aspects, including dark side behaviours or behaviours such as information concealment; opportunism or interest in taking advantage of a counterparty; the intention to create confusion; selling information to a third party without a customer’s consent; supplying misleading information; lack of respect for privacy; unjustified charges; and hiding information from customers. The aim of this research was to identify research works focusing on dark side behaviours and their connection with satisfaction in business relationships between companies.  To this end, a systematic literature review of 43 articles that met the search criteria was carried out. After narrowing the sample, 16 articles written during the 2010-2021 period were selected. Theories, authors, methodologies, and limitations of the studies, as well as opportunities for future research, were identified.
