Abstract:

This article deals with an actual question of a significant decrease in fish stocks of the entire World Ocean. In this regard, there is a massive resettlement of invasions and zooplankton, which is the main reason for the decline in fish catch in various parts of the world of fishing. The main method of resettlement of invasive migrants is ballasting and deballasting of sea vessels, where in the ballast waters of the vessel these biological creatures of various sizes begin to fight for their existence, destroying all life on their way in the waters of the new habitat. The damage to the global economy over the past 30 years in the decline in fishing is about $ 5 trillion. Along with financial losses, ballast water contaminated with harmful viruses: cholera, plague, hepatitis, Covid-19 and its modifications can lead to a pandemic on a planetary scale, considering that the Covid-19 virus, according to the latest updated data from scientists from a number of countries, is viable in wastewater for up to 48 hours. One can imagine what consequences could threaten all of humanity. It is no coincidence that for all shipowners of the World Marine Fleet it will is necessary to re-equip ballast systems in accordance with the updated International Standard D-2 until 2024. Currently, more than 70 thousand seagoing vessels should be re-equipped at various shipbuilding and ship repair yards. According to our approximate calculations, the total amount of the re-equipment is about 7 billion dollars. Scientists and engineers of the Danube Institute of National University "Odessa Maritime Academy", including the authors of the article, invented a unique installation for disinfection and purification of ballast water in accordance with the requirements of the updated standard D-2. All the main costs for the production of the presented installation were worked out in detail according to the existing labor standards of the Izmail shipyard. The selling price of the newly manufactured installation is $ 169,000, well below current world prices. The results obtained show that with the help of the above processes in the manufactured installation, practically the entire line of life-threatening viruses are destroyed in ballast wastewater.
