Abstract:
This paper discusses the need to address security issues with mobile devices and to raise awareness among users about the potential threats to privacy when using them. People access and store a high amount of sensitive information, personal and business-related, on their mobile phones without consideringsecurity risks until it is too late. The expanding functionality of mobile operating systems, such as Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies,exposes users to security threats unheard of before. Concurrently, the use of these devices for making payments, accessing work databases, storing health records creates a highly lucrative landscape for unscrupulous hackers.
