Security Management for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks by Software Defined Network Paradigm

Abstract:

Considering the importance of direct communications between vehicles and between vehicles/infrastructure in a vehicular environment, the proposal of a new architectural approach taking advantage of the advantages of both communications is, therefore, a very important topic to discuss. In this perspective, we are developing a vehicular network using several access technologies and based on the SDN (Software Defined Network), to provide flexibility in their control and management. This flexibility is a necessity to efficiently manage available network resources and provide communication services tailored to Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) service requirements. Also, a good security and confidentiality management system are necessary to ensure the protection of vehicular networks. In this article, we also provide a scheme that prevents and informs attacks by managing the requirements of security management systems. The simulation results showed the effectiveness of the proposed schemes in terms of message loss rate, packet delivery rate, and delay reduction.
