Abstract:
Uncertainty, instability, and unpredictability of the environment of contemporary organizations do not stop at the level of an organization as a whole, but they equally strongly concern people’s individual work. The research problem undertaken in this paper is the search for an answer to the question of how to manage an organization in conditions of uncertainty in order to cope with growing uncertainty at the basic organizational level – the level of a specific employee’s workplace? In turn, this question triggers a series of other questions, for example: what are sources of uncertainty that an employee can encounter at a contemporary workplace? Can they be systematically reviewed? Must any uncertainty lead to a decline in work efficiency, or are there sources and levels of uncertainty that we would consider positive and desirable?
