Abstract:

The main feature of the economy of the future is a fundamental change in the structure of the labor market, determined by demographic factors, the main of which should include a significant increase in the retirement age population. The elderly population turns into a powerful resource for the development of a new type of economy, which received the poetic name “silver”. The article presents a review of foreign researches of demographic changes in the labor market of developed countries on the structure and quality of the labor force; the analysis of demographic trends in Russia; the necessity of involving employable of elderly population  in the labor market. On the basis of the empirical research conducted by the authors, the features of the social potential of the older generation are identified and characterized.
