Abstract:
Smart devices and systems are increasingly getting into our lives and our homes. As technology advanced, and more and more devices got “smart”, or “smarter”, the number, complexity and impact of their addressed threats increased proportionally. As smart devices have reduced capabilities and performances, compared to classic ICT equipment, reduced attack surface and increased cybersecurity level may be expected. Still, the reality differs and, at present time, smart devices and systems bring new threats and increase the risks for ICT infrastructures. Due to their nature, errors, attacks, hacking on smart devices and systems have physical consequences, impacting safety and security of humans and their properties, safety and security of communities, and even nations.
