Socio-Economic Aspects of Physical Protection of Regional Self-Government Buildings

Abstract:

Physical protection is one of the basic pillars of the optimal level of object security. The exercise of physical protection must be following the law of the country in which the protection is exercised. In the conditions of the Slovak Republic, it is Act No. 473/2005 on Private Security. According to the law, two basic options for the implementation of physical protection are generally permitted and used through an external company, as a subcontracting of service, and through its employees. In addition to these two commonly used options, however, the law allows one type but intended only for state authorities and selected institutions, e.g. state security forces and local self-government bodies.

The article is focused on a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the use of individual options for the implementation of physical protection by state authorities. The assessment shall also include a financial statement of the costs incurred by the institution in selecting the available options.
