Abstract:
The development of human society is closely related to the exploitation and use of wood with strong impacts on nature by decreasing the forested areas. The effects of globalization on forests are both positive and negative, but the negative ones could be diminished by applying the sustainable forest management. This research focuses on the analysis of Romanian industrial roundwood, sawnwood, and wood fuel from the perspective of sustainable forest management in order to identity some effects of globalization on forests. The results of this paper show that Romania has an increasing net export of sawnwood, which will contribute to economic growth, but also will affect the environment. Slowly, Romania has started to apply the sustainable forest management by adopting better regulations in forestry in order to control the deforestation problem and to protect the forests.
