Abstract:

Emigration has multiple consequences in Romania at national, regional and individual level. It mostly affects the total population and its age structure and, as a consequence, on the demographic phenomena in Romania.  The effects are visible especially after the events from December 1989. In this paper, some features of international migration with serious implications on fertility will be presented. We also offer a brief description of the phenomena before 1989 and after 1990.
