Statistical Analysis of the Senior Citizens’ Confidence in the Authorities

Abstract:

The article deals with the study of indicators of the senior citizens wellbeing in Tomsk region on the basis of a specially designed questionnaire during the social survey. On the basis of statistical analysis significant rank confidence indicators in different tiers of authority and their relationship with the pensioners’ estimation indicators of their living standards were revealed, as well as their homogeneity by nominal indicators (gender, occupation, place of residence). High % (≥10%) of answers "Difficult to answer" in all indicators of confidence in the authorities except confidence in the President (3%), and high-contrast full confidence in the President (69%) and the Army (41%) were determined. On the basis of the most significant correlation links of indicator pairs of confidence in the authorities 4 main groups of confidence indicators were identified: 1) the President, 2) the Federal Government, 3) the Local Government, 4) the media. At the same time the only significant link of indicator of living standards im-provement was marked only by confidence in the President. Based on non-parametric (rank) criteria homogeneity of confidence indicators in different tiers of authority by nominal indicators (gender and work) was identified, but statistically significant heterogeneity by place of residence indicator was revealed.
