Abstract:
Tourism and recreation management based on the principles of sustainable development is one of the most important issues in various countries in the world. The given paper deals with the analysis of the features of tourism sustainable development and management practices in Germany, the steps it has taken, since this country has already established a successful model of tourism and recreation system. The methodology of the research is based upon the system-structural approach along with the economic and statistical analysis, content analysis of scientific literature and data from the official websites of tourism organizations. Analytical methods as well as expert assessment methods have been applied to the identification of features of tourism strategic planning. The common approaches to dealing with tourism sustainable development issues as well as its key differences have been identified. In conclusion the recommendations how to enhance tourism sustainable development and management practices in the Russian Federation have been provided. The scientific value of the information generated is in the analysis of German steps as well as the identification of core tourism project planning, funding and its implementation. The principles of sustainable development of Altmühl-Donau region has been used to identify the key role of the «LEADER» program as well as various Local Action Groups (LAG).
