Strategy for Knowledge Transferring in Medical Device Design. Case: Universidad Industrial de Santander

Abstract:

The main purpose of this study was to define a knowledge transfer strategy for learning of digital manufacturing technologies applied to the design and development of medical devices for specific patients. Due currently trend and rising demand for these technologies, these paradigms in manufacturing have forced higher education institutions to look back their pedagogical models that have been developed based on industrial procedures which towards obsolescence. On the other hand, in the academic environment research lines have been created and strengthened aimed at the use of digital manufacturing technologies for developing prototypes for different sectors, including health and medical devices. Study relevance for strategies design was founded on bachelor students which keened on developing their own research project. To achieve their objectives, students must learn skill and capabilities from a technological curriculum, not available until it was proposed.
