Abstract:
The main purpose of this paper is to analyze students' prerequisites, expectations, work readiness and attitudes towards the family business of their cluster cooperation, especially when they are about to finish their studies. The reason for our research was the fact that we expect gradual generational exchange in families that started their activity after 1989. At the same time, we studied the motivation of students to start their own business on the basis of their previous activities. On a theoretical level, the contribution presents different approaches to defining family business in different countries and its different representation in selected economies. It presents new information about students' views on the possibilities to settle in family businesses in Slovakia and on new information about changes in motivation and student positions in setting up and managing their own businesses. Our research shows that students are more interested in gathering practical information about business services that are relevant to business, or even more about gaining employment in information and communication companies. Generation change is less important and interesting to them than acquiring skills and practical experience in family businesses involved in the cluster in Slovakia or abroad.
