Students’ Information Competence Development Through Indirect Educational Activity

Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of methodology providing indirect learning experience for the development of student information competence. Methods/Analysis: Using of educational forms in direct and indirect work in the existing university’s information and educational environment for the students' informational competence development is proposed. Methods of pedagogical interaction, creation of an educational trajectory, cognitive activity, etc. are used. Sholom-Aleichem Priamursky State University, Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, Far-East Institute of Management and Osh State University were chosen as experimental sites for the experiment. Findings: It was revealed that the use of methods of intensive educational activity in students’ self-study by creating a set of tasks that organize their activities, as well as support and group self-control provides a more effective development of students' information competence. The research results show that in the experimental group (398 people) the increase was 37 percent, while in the control group (405 people) an increase of 18 percent was observed. Applications/Improvements: Further research may be related to the adaptation of methodology for other disciplines with a modification of the existing set of tasks and a possible adjustment of the approach, based on the capabilities of the university's information and educational environment..
