Abstract:
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, educational institutions all over the world have been forced to close down in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus. However, to ensure education continuity, the great majority these academic institutions decided to substitute classroom-based teaching/learning with remote instruction. However, this abrupt shift away from face-to-face learning has caused a lot of debate amongst educators, students and parents as to the efficiency of online learning in achieving quality education in these circumstances.
Our purpose in this article is, therefore, to examine students’ perceptions towards the full adoption of distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, on the basis of the results of the study that we carried out conducted among higher education students, it was found out that in spite of the significant efforts that have been made by educational authorities to deliver courses using a variety web-based platforms and in a various formats, the students’ global satisfaction of the ‘compulsory’ online learning mode is low. Indeed, except for about 40% of the subjects who claimed to be satisfied, more than 60% of the participants are totally dissatisfied with the e-learning solutions adopted during the pandemic.
