Study on Foreign Direct Investments in Romania and Their Impact onto the Economy

Abstract:

The scientific paper highlights, on the one hand, an evolution of foreign direct investments in Romania, while on the other hand, it astonishes the impact of these investments onto the national economy. In order to realize this study there were used statistical data given by the National Bank of Romania. There were analyzed foreign direct investments, net incomes realized by direct foreign investors, types of direct foreign investments, exports and imports of companies with foreign direct investments. During 2007-2013, one could observe an ascending trend of foreign direct investments and their concentration within Bucharest-Ilfov region. In this context, the economic growth is connected to both foreign and domestic investors decisions, but also with macroeconomic policies. Nowadays, in Romania, there must be attracted capital and foreign investments. These foreign direct investments would produce the following effects onto the economy: companies re-technology; quitting a part of the loans that Romania needs; staff training; increasing products quality; entering new sales markets and so on. In order to attract foreign direct investments, it is necessary a review of internal legislation and fiscal policy.
