Abstract:
Organizational culture, managerial culture, organizational values and principles and all other similar concepts become sometimes overwhelmingly important when met face-to-face in human resource management (HRM). Such encounter is somehow even more relevant when it is linked to public sector. The paper presents some preliminary findings of an empirical study based on a larger research investigating organizational culture characteristics within public sector in Romania. Out of six sets of items in the questionnaire, this paper uses one set with 23 items that requires participants to identify most used cultural values in their workplace. We segregated the findings based on responder’s seniority within the organization - under three years and over ten years - and we tried to determine if there is a significant difference between the two segments. In the end, we discuss the opportunity to further investigate the role of HRM in preventing or causing the two possible outcomes.
