Abstract:

In this manuscript, we intend to emphasize the importance of investments in research and development and technological innovation, in order to increase SMEs performance and reduce environmental impact. This aim involves the adoption of new or improved products and processes to increase live quality and consumer support, in West Region of Romania. We clearly presented a comprehensive review concerning the existing instruments. New International Standards represent a solution for any type of organization but especially for SME’s due to their enormous number as a percentage of the European economy and employment. Small and medium sized enterprises are confronting themselves with new challenge and they must be the promoters of technological innovation. This study shows that SMEs from West Region of Romania should be pointed to development and implementing technological innovation in order to restrain possible loss and control environmental costs.
