Survey of the Attitude of the Urban Population in Romania regarding the Phenomenon of Corruption

Abstract:

Corruption is a phenomenon that has different dimensions and forms of manifestation, difficult to measure and to anticipate, manifested in different ways from one geographic space to another. The main objective of our study is to assess the attitude of the Romanian population on the phenomenon of corruption based on an opinion poll. The target population was represented by all categories of people over the age of 18.

The sample size was 300, and data collection was conducted through direct interviews, with responses recorded by the interviewer based on a questionnaire. The main objectives of the survey were the following: determining how the urban population is concerned with the phenomenon of corruption; determining the frequency of spreading of this phenomenon; enumeration of the factors that determine the propagation of corruption in Romania, determination and introduction of measures to remove or diminish the phenomenon of corruption, etc.

The general conclusion of our study was that: the lifestyle, the inefficiency of the state institutions and, above all, the lack of political will are the main reasons for the corruption phenomenon in Romania.
