Sustainability Leadership, the Key to a Better World – A Case Study on Romania’s Situation

Abstract:

The scientific research paper entitled “Sustainability leadership, the key to a better world – a case study on Romania’s situation” takes into consideration the aspects related to the role, the importance and the challenges that sustainability leadership brings in today’s society. Moreover, the paper addresses key issues such as: what makes a leader for sustainability; what does sustainability leadership represent; what is the connection between sustainability leadership and new global economy; and what does sustainability leadership in terms of knowledge sharing represent. Furthermore, this work aims to present Romania’s position in terms of economic growth; economic development; sustainability and sustainable economic development, by focusing on the results obtain by performing an analysis on five Romanian institutions (two of them public and three of them private) during the time period 2015 – 2017. The case study on Romania showed the need to strengthen the institutions’ and the companies’ positions in terms of “healthy” economic growth, respect and responsibility towards the society, effective and efficient methods able to measure sustainability and to ensure performance and excellence with the help of sustainable leadership methods and indicators. The visions of the programs aiming the targets for the years 2020 and 2030 emphasize the necessity of creating and living into a “better” world. Due to this fact, this scientific work stresses the main triggers capable to comply with these visions and to transform today’s society into a better and healthier one, while taking into account aspects such as: economic, managerial and leadership vision, sustainability, responsibility, effectiveness, efficiency, performance, excellence, competitiveness, new economy.
