Abstract:
Transport activity is perceived as a key response to the internationalization of trade. This situation determines a high level of competition between the different methods of transport where each is trying to capitalize on its strengths and reduce its disadvantages. The purpose of this paper is to determine ways of optimizing transportation costs in the process of distribution of goods, respecting sustainability development. The scientific research methods that were applied in the paper: comparative analysis, abstraction, minimum tariff method, North-West corner method and distributive method. The economic importance of the transportation activity is based on a broad organization that increasingly favors moving goods, with the aim of optimizing the duration of transportation and reducing the time of the physical presence of goods in warehouses. The conclusion of the study indicates the distribution process as a set of interconnected activities whose objective is to ensure the customer that the desired product is positioned in the right place, at the time of demand, in the expected quantity and at the best rate.
