Abstract:
Sustainable development requires the elimination of the imbalances that exist in the spatial development of the socio-economic system. The Russian Federation is characterized by considerable diversity of regional conditions. The Russian experience of overcoming imbalances in regional development can be used by other countries. Regional features should be considered in the development strategies of the territories. To ensure the sustainability strategy should be aimed at achieving a general guideline. It is improving the quality and standard of living. Comparative analysis of the Russian strategic documents showed that this benchmark is not always clearly identified as a priority. It sets the direction for further development of the theory and practice of strategic management of sustainable territorial development.
