Abstract:
Numerous organizations use SWOT analysis as part of their strategic planning process. The simplicity of this framework is one of the reasons for its popularity, but it is also a downfall: The framework itself being only a knowledge capture exercise, it naturally leads managers to the question of "what to do with the results of a SWOT Analysis". In this paper, we introduce a novel multicriteria outranking approach, entitled SPADE, that aims at consolidating SWOT analysis with sound decision- theoretic techniques, and making use of its results to support decision-making.
