Abstract:
This paper intention is to have a comprehensive literature review of quality methodologies that are used in automotive industry, heaving the focus on technical risk (error) management. Also, a new technical risk management model will be proposed based on all the findings that the literature review will relieve. The new model of technical errors analysis is developed based on findings from literature review and based on the authors experience in the automotive quality, especially in technical errors management.
Nowadays, the automotive industry is more and more oriented in quality management. There are a lot of tools, methods, techniques and methodologies developed to ensure the quality of the final product (even if the product is an object or is a function). One of the biggest problem is the technical risk management that is considered in most of the cases as a paper work or time-consuming activity since is not a design or manufacturing tool. Quality methodologies like TQM, Lean, Six Sigma or DfSS, proposes tools like FMEA, DRBFM, FTA and so on, but there is no a complete approach. There are two different kind of technical risks: the systematical risks and random risks. The systematical risks are that kind of risks that are induced by product design itself. On the other hand, the random risks appear only if the product is exposed to conditions that was not designed for, or due to the production activities. Both type of risks should be analyzed in development faze and during production.
