Temporal Object-Oriented Databases Applied to Petroleum Distribution

Abstract:

There is a real necessity to store and manage temporal data. This paper shows how to take advantage of the extensibility of the object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) by extending its functionality. This paper proposes to extend DBMS function library for implementation of temporal operations and management of temporal data. This function library is part of the DBMS architecture. It is shown how to make use of these implemented temporal aspects applying this work on a petroleum industry application that helps the management and use of the distribution of oil derivatives.
