Abstract:
With the implementation of the Bologna Process in the higher education system and the development of web technologies e-learning has become an important element of the pedagogical process. Nursing is not an exception. The introduction of e-learning is an innovation that has significant impact on pedagogical and administrative processes. Both, technological and sociological aspects of its implementation should be considered. We hypothesized that blended e-learning would be positively accepted by nursing students. Furthermore, we tested whether nursing students would accept e-learning as a substitution to the face-to-face approach. To test both hypotheses an anonymous survey was performed among students attending the second year of the nursing study programme at the College of Health Care Izola. The results show that students have a positive attitude towards the introduction of blended e-learning in the pedagogical process of nursing and that they perceive the complete substitution of the face-to-face pedagogical process with e-learning as inappropriate. We conclude that the implementation of blended e-learning as a supplement to the classical pedagogical process would raise its quality.
