Abstract:

The expanding use of smartphone and advancing social networking technologies have been altering the way we communicate and work in a company. In various business sectors, companies tend to include the emerging social networking systems, such as Twitter and Facebook into corporate intranet and other legacy platforms to organize communication and enhance performance. It is now clear that many companies are attempting to take advantages of social networking technology. However, there is still a lack of study evaluating the role and impact of enterprise social networking (ESN) systems in a firm, and some are still in questions about the beneficial implications of ESN. Thus, this paper focuses on investigating the role of communication and collaborative platform in enterprise 2.0. Explicitly, this paper explores the functions of ESN system, TalkOn, and analyses how it has applied within a firm. The case analysis of this paper would suggest ESN systems enhancing the beneficial changes in the business process and provide an insight of strategic challenges in solving business problems.
