Abstract:
This paper aims at assessing the stage of using information technology in the agricultural exploitations in Romania. In this sense, an analysis was performed with respect to the endowment of agricultural exploitations with computation techniques, at the level of each of Romania’s development regions. The empirical study performed on the manner in which management is ensured in the agricultural exploitations, on the market of information solutions for customized agricultural needs and of the policies promoting investments in information technology, had as result the identification of the main factors that lead to its reduced penetration rate in the Romanian agriculture. The most important are: the low degree of professional education, especially of agricultural exploitations’ managers, the high number of subsistence exploitations, which have neither the resources, nor the motivation to invest in computer technology and the absence of customized software, adapted to the specific requirements of the Romanian agriculture.
