Abstract:
As its core, the CPEC is a project that was meant to modernize Pakistan's crumbling infrastructure, through a $62 billion government to government program (Bhattacharjee, 2015). The purpose of this study was to establish the impacts of the CPEC project on human resources development, with emphasis on the challenges and prospects that said project may generate. A quantitative research approach was used in the present study. Quantitative descriptive studies rely on the use of primary sources, at least for the most part. Data were collected from a sample of 250 participants. The sample pool was divided into two groups. Each of the two groups was composed of 125 participants i.e. equal distribution. The sample population was divided based on their location, of which there were two, China and Pakistan. A customer questionnaire was used to quantitatively analyze the impacts of CPEC on human resources development, based on the respondents' perceptions. The study showed mixed results regarding the challenges and prospects of Human Resources development under CPEC. So far, it can be seen that the CPEC would have a positive impact on Human Resources Management Efficiency, Employee Satisfaction, 360 Degree Feedback and Employee Evaluation, Inclusion and Belongingness, Human Capital Development, Skills Development, Knowledge Acquisition, Knowledge Transfer, Manager Effectiveness, Employee Productivity and Employee Benefits (based on a high mean score, which means that the respondents have a positive perception about these variables' potential). CPEC, according to the participants' responses, are going to have a negative impact on Employee Retention, Career Development, Job Satisfaction, and Work-Life Balance, as evidenced by the low mean score that we were able to compute for these variables.
