The Challenges that Face M-Commerce in Oman from Business Perspective

Abstract:

The M-Commerce channel has opened up possibilities that business once dreamed of. However, businesses face several challenges to get advantages from applying M-commerce. Currently, gulf countries are lacking in number of researches about M-commerce and the challenges that they are facing. Thus the objective of this study is to investigate the challenges that face M-commerce in Oman from business perspective. To achieve this objective, data was collected through some interviews which had been conducted and distributing a questionnaire to 34 of mobile phone users in Oman. The study showed that the majority of the participants said that social norms can have significant influence on the acceptance of M-commerce. Furthermore they consider the privacy and health issues are important in m-commerce applications. Most of the participants believe that M-commerce will have a good future in Oman. The results of the study would be interesting for business which plan to invest in M-commerce in Oman.
