The Competitive Advantage Of Romanian Hospitality Industry: Analysis And Diagnostic’s Competitive Behavior In The Actual Economic And Financial Crises Context

Abstract:

Romania is a country with a big tourism potential (because it’s landforms, the temperate continental climate, the natural resources used for treatments and baths etc.), witch transforms this country in one permanent tourism destination with a huge competitive advantage. So, Romanian tourism is considered by government the economic development engine at national level. The government must understand that, like in other business, is preferable that the economic recovery must not be based on one single instrument: tourism. It is necessary to take into account the whole our country’s development potential. We affirm those things because, as this article will demonstrate, tourism is an economic sector more sensitive than other sectors, witch reacts promptly to any change whatever it is: political, social and especially economic changes. This paper wants to highlight the hospitality industry’s behavior and it’s competitive advantage in actual economic global crisis and for this we studied the international literature and we also made a statistical survey for 591 firms classified as accommodation units and tourism intermediars. Based on financial and non-financial indicators the hospitality industry’s competitiveness’ analysis on development areas propose an analysis competitive advantage gain by innovation and some strategies proposals for tourism recovery, witch, we hope, it will contribute to decision making in this area not only for Romanian government but also for other development country witch can be found in the same situations as Romania.
