Abstract:

This study explores the impact of the founder and project aspects on crowdfunding success in Emerging market. The founder feature plays an important role to support the trust reliability from the potential backers and the project feature is needed to evaluate the project credibility through the interaction between the founder and the backer. Using cross section data from year 2012 to 2018, we employ Logit regression method from 300 projects scattered in three crowdfunding platform websites representing the Emerging Countries including Brazil, India, and Middle East and North Africa regions. This study shows remarkable results by performing significant results from founder and project aspects. Showing positively significant result to influence dependent variable, founder identity disclosure presents the transparency and credibility of the founder and leads the potential backers to support the project success in raising fund. In addition from project aspect, most of the independent variables also expose positive signal to crowdfunding success since it describes the consistency of delivering the progress of project implementation and at the end raise the trust of the backer candidates. Project factors show bigger effect to influence crowdfunding success than founder variables because they may show high interest in the potential market and high interaction of communication. In addition, the project aspect also show communication to alleviate the miscommunication and asymmetric information to increase the trust to the potential backers though updates and comment sentiments.
