Abstract:
The survival and the sustainability of an organization depend on the organization’s ability to manage the resources at her disposal for maximum productivity and profitability. The major organizational resource that helps achieve organizational objectives is the human resource, which must be effectively managed. The organizational policies and environment all have a role to play on the psychology and emotional wellbeing of the employee in said organization. This study therefore explores the role of organizational climate on the motivation of employees in manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Sampling the response of workers in selected manufacturing companies in Ogun and Lagos States of Nigeria, 139 copies of the research questionnaire were analyzed using the One Sample t-test. The result shows that there is a positive significant relationship between employee recognition and employee job satisfaction; management style and organizational team work; employee participation and employee loyalty; and career progression with employee performance. It is recommended that organizations put in place a good feedback mechanism that helps them gather information directly from their employees; the psychological needs of the employees should be prioritized; managers should maintain a cordial relationship with their employees and there should be periodic review of employee remuneration.
