The Emergence of Silver Bullets (Small Software Firms) Transforming Pakistan to Knowledge Economy:Small Business Perspective

Abstract:

The research paper evaluates the emergence of silver bullets business (software houses) in the homeland and measures its contribution to the economy of Pakistan. The current research also explores the clutch of software industry of Pakistan in South Asia. For the said purpose, data was
collected by triangulation (questionnaire survey, interviews and case studies) from the software firms. The authors investigate the business start up and trends of software business (silver bullets) from 1996 to 2008 in Pakistan. The present research includes 1210 firms registered in PSEB to know the transparent performance of national software industry. The weighted average score of factors impact software business success calculated by entering data in Microsoft scheming tool. The contents analysis technique was applied for export distributions to view the factual representation of these silver bullets. The authors applied sign test technique to evaluate the effectiveness of project verses product oriented software firms. Furthermore, authors identified national world-class silver bullets operating and striving to transform Pakistan to knowledge economy. The research paper presents an innovative model to increase the global competitiveness of our silver bullets based upon the literature review and best practices of Pakistan. In conclusion, authors provided fruitful interpretation for software firm startup and its management especially off-shoring services at global scale. The authors’ recommendations will facilitate textile, education, manufacturing, agriculture sector in transformation process and provoke prosperity to nation.
