The Evolution of e-Commerce considering the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Literature Review on the Purchasing Behaviour of Online Retail Consumers

Abstract:

In a previously unaware world of confinement, the COVID-19 disease emerged at the end of 2019, forcing individuals to stay in their homes, providing them with a new reality, where online shopping played a vital role in this adaptation. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate this topic and understand the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on e-commerce, also knowing the behaviour of potential customers of the respective online stores. In this sense, the primary purpose of this article is to understand the influence of the pandemic period on e-commerce and the changes found in the purchasing behaviour of online retail consumers. That said, a systematic review of the literature was carried out using the PRISMA method to find recent and relevant studies on the subject under analysis, thus presenting the main changes observed in the purchase behaviour of online retail consumers during and after the pandemic season.
