Abstract:
The free movement of persons is one of the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by EU law. It includes the right of EU nationals to move freely to another Member State and to take up employment and reside there with their family members. The labour mobility is considered as one of the main factors which effecting the equilibrium in the labour market which includes employers and employees and may affect also the relations in both the receiving and sending countries. The aim of the paper is to examine the labour mobility inside the EU with special attention to Slovakia. The paper analyses its economic and social effects in the different regions of the country and identifies the push and pull factors of the mobility. The data analysis is based on European Commission’s reports, Eurostat, ILO, Slovak Statistical Office data and other resources related to labour mobility.
