Abstract:
System development primarily focuses on software projects and the need for the use of good and robust methodologies have become imminent. The current trend is to use Agile methodologies with its hybrid versions as this has shown more promise in increasing the success rates in software project deliveries. The Agile Manifesto in 2001 provided 4 values and 12 principles where adaptability and dynamism were common features to ensure an effective role was built into the methodologies. This paper aims to provide a review of the current hybrid methods and its inherent gaps for future researchers to build more resilient hybrid approaches and models. These hybrid models have to be tested and validated to ensure it delivers more successful software projects to address current industry trends where there is a plateau in the success rate as reported by the CHAOS 2016 report by the Standish group.
