The Impact of Applying Modern Control and Internal Audit Techniques on the Efficacy, Effectiveness and Efficiency of an Entity’s Activity

Abstract:

We can observe that lately, also due to the fact that Romania has joined the European Union, there is a need of making any economic activity more efficient and more perfomant, by maximizing the degree of security of financial resources; therefore, an intense development of the internal audit function has occurred, which can only certify the influence of positive external factors on the economy. Economic agents have become more and more interested in structuring a high-performance activity and optimizing their information system as efficiently as possible. The focus of this new area is to strengthen the internal control, which is defined as an important function of management, being the carrier of significant weightiness and utility, regardless of the level at which it operates.

This paper explores methods of increasing efficacy and effectiveness (and, therefore, efficiency and performance) within a multinational entity through the use of modern and useful internal control and internal audit techniques. In order to carry out its activity in a viable way and according to the legal regulations in Romania, the analyzed company develops a "controlling" behaviour, taking into account the size of the entity, its impact at national and global level, as well as the large volume of sub-activities which encompasses the company's business.
