The Impact of Automation and Digitalization of Internal Transport Processes on Cost Optimization and Efficiency in the Era of Industry 4.0

Abstract:

The paper focuses on problems related to internal transport in manufacturing companies, which are an important element of logistics processes. Internal transport, divided into storage and pro-duction, requires a systematic approach to design and optimization, including analysis of pro-duction processes and infrastructure. In the context of Industry 4.0, automation, using technologies such as autonomous vehicles (AGV) and collaborative robots (CoBots), introduces new possibilities for optimizing logistics processes. The aim of the paper is to discuss how these technologies affect cost reduction, increased efficiency and flexibility of transport processes. Key aspects include ergonomics of workstations, mathematical models for system optimization and automated warehouse systems (AS/RS). Automation contributes to improved work safety, reduced errors and improved product quality, and also adapts to dynamic changes in demand, which makes optimization a key element of internal transport management.
