Abstract:

Healthcare is a fundamental socio-economic challenge, being more and more exacerbated nowadays by the increasing factors triggered by the aging and growing population. Along with the technological advancements, digital transformation positively influenced the health field, uncovering unprecedented opportunities and benefits. Supported by the literature, we strongly believe that innovative approaches and technologies are dramatically transforming healthcare; moving from hospital-centered management to preventive, proactive, evidence-based, person-centered services, focusing on well-being rather than on the disease, by using specific IOT instruments and principles. The urgent IOT adoption is pivotal for addressing the complexity of healthcare issues (e.g., cancer, heart diseases, diabetes), and, brings fourth, the emergence of uncovering and improving healthcare outcomes in relation to consumers as well as decrease the healthcare costs.
